A woman in Houston set her auto on fire as she sat inside with her three children, at one point declaring, "We're going to see Jesus", The Associated Press reported citing police.
According to KHOU, the woman is accused of trying to kill her three daughters-ages 9, 11, and 13-Sunday night at a Houston vehicle wash. The witness intervened and the woman fled on foot with the children, Houston police said. She then made a decision to leave with the kids.
Police said Segovia abandoned her two older children on W. Orem Drive in far southwest Houston. She struggled with the deputy, who eventually gained control and placed her under arrest.
According to Harris County 185th Criminal Court records, Segovia is charged with one count of felony aggravated assault on a family member. No bond has been set at this time, records state.
None of the daughters were hurt during the incident, according to police.
Witnesses also heard the woman shout, "Let's go to heaven", after she revved the engine and it caught fire. A mental health evaluation for Segovia has been ordered, KTRK-TV reported.
