Newport County: Day, Pipe (McCoulsky, 66) Butler, Labadie, White (O'Brien, 76) Willmott, Amond, Nouble, Tozer (Dolan, 58) Bennett, Demetriou.

They had crossed paths before when they were collecting awards for their respective efforts in their chosen sport from local paper the Carlow Nationalist.

The League Two minnows had been more than a match for Spurs on their own patch in the original fourth-round clash, but they couldn't match a second string Spurs side at Wembley on Wednesday night. But Harry Kane spoilt the party, and here we all are today, back at Wembley.

Pochettino was also able to bring off Son after just an hour, and even though Eriksen and Alli were brought on, it was with the game already safe to keep their legs fresh without stretching too far. We had a Nando's once a week. I'm exhausted of explaining, but football is about 24-25 players, it is about quality of effort, and we are going to rotate because we trust all the players. Just the two Spurs goals this season for a man who really excelled in the Premier League for struggling Swansea last term.

Jackman insisted: "It's just great to see one of the clubs do well".

If Spurs beat Newport tonight - as most people are expecting them to - their reward will be an away tie against Rochdale in the fifth round. Mark O'Brien kept them up.

Padraig Amond might have been at McGovern Park the other week to lend his support to the Barrowsiders, had he not being busy helping Newport County threaten one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history.

"I think the recruitment and the work we're doing day to day will have the Dragons as a decent side". Newport's inability to retain possession high up the pitch was causing a lot of their issues and their defense was given little respite. He couldn't believe the intensity and the physicality.

And, the result aside, the 7,500 travelling fans of the Welsh side were given a display they can be proud from their team, as Newport pressed high against Spurs and did not let their heads drop after going down. It got Spurs the 2-0 cushion they wanted, and they cruised home from there.

Newport had a couple of chances in the second half, but failed to capitalize on them as Spurs remained dominant throughout the match. I apologised on our behalf to Mauricio for it getting out.
