However, the new business version of Whatsapp seems to be available only in select countries which include Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the U.S. Meanwhile, the company promised that the new app will be available to the rest of the world in the coming weeks. The app will soon be rolled out worldwide.
Here, chatbots - machine learning and artificial intelligence powered software - respond to customer messages in Messenger conversations, enabling users to get updates on delivery times and other services from a range of businesses. With WhatsApp, the social-media giant is looking forward to roll out the same functionalities to its chat service as well.
WhatsApp has always been used as an unofficial communication platform for business users, an attractive proposition due to its ease of set up and end-to-end encryption, despite some missing enterprise features.
Announced back in September 2017, the business version was tested for ventures like BookMyShow and MakeMyTrip in India.
BUSINESS PROFILE: Create a profile for your business to help your customers find valuable information - like your website, location, or contact information. Customers do not need to install an extra application as WhatsApp Business for business management only. Over time, businesses that have confirmed their account phone number matches their business one will become "Confirmed Accounts".
Business accounts will be clearly listed as such. In its essence, this application will provide the benefits of a Facebook business page on a messaging platform. "And people will continue to have full control over the messages they receive, with the ability to block any number, including businesses, as well as report spam", the company said in its blog.
"We see that customers and businesses are using it to help sell products".
LANDLINE/FIXED NUMBER SUPPORT: You can use WhatsApp Business with a landline (or fixed) phone number and your customers can message you on that number.
