Liverpool-bound Keita going nowhere in January

RB Leipzig have ended speculation over the future of midfielder Naby Keita by confirming the Liverpool-bound player will remain in Germany until the end of the season.

Now awaiting a transfer to Liverpool, the 22-year-old has made the bold claim and insists that he wants to be even better than his idol, Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Guinea global is a talented midfielder and Jurgen Klopp's side had to beat off competition from other elite clubs in order to sign him.

With Philippe Coutinho's £146 million move to Barcelona confirmed earlier this week, the Reds are in need of a replacement and have plenty of money to spend.

Keita is due to join Liverpool in the summer after a deal was agreed in advance.

He scored the opening goal in Saturday's 3-1 league win against Schlake at the Red Bull Arena with some home fans thinking it was the last timer they will see their star man.

"Naby Keïta will remain an #RBLeipzig player until 30th June 2018".

"They have shown renewed interest to bring him in during this transfer window".

"That is all we know". "A sale [in January] would have only been possible if we had secured an additional, exorbitantly high transfer fee".

Mahrez embarked on a unusual sequence of events on transfer deadline day in the summer when his national side allowed him to leave to seek a move away from the King Power Stadium.
