Police are searching for a woman and her boyfriend in connection with the death of a 4-year-old MI girl who was found with severe burns, WDIV reported. Family members were administering CPR.

A medical examiner ruled the child's death a homicide with evidence of multiple traumatic injuries and battered-child syndrome, meaning she suffered multiple injuries, at multiple sites, at multiple ages. It's unclear whether Fields is the child's father.

She was taken to the hospital and shortly after pronounced dead.

"She didn't have to pass the way she did, but I hope we get justice for her really soon", Barrett said.

Barrett spoke to WJBK about his daughter Sunday night at a candlelight vigil held in her memory. "I know we may not have a lot of information at all, but it just hurts".

Diaz and Fields are believed to be traveling in a black 2002 Chevy Cavalier with MI tag number DTR1854, police officials said.

Police say the home where she was found was full of animal waste and contained drugs and guns.

Fields allegedly faked a gunshot wound on May 25, 2016 in an incident where he was accused of assaulting Diaz and possibly shooting her dog, police said.

Sumpter Township police said in a release that the fugitives were captured while driving near Lake Park, Georgia by agents of the U.S. Marshals Service in Macon Georgia, who worked in conjunction with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department.

He was later arrested on domestic violence charges. Diaz faces murder, child abuse and torture charges.

Diaz pleaded guilty to two charges: possession of prescription forms and altering ID marks on a firearm, online court records show.
