"To see her transform in a courageous way and truly push herself into a new territory has been one of the most exciting things about this project".
Red Sparrow arrives in theaters on March 2, 2018. Following The Hunger Games, Red Sparrow sets out to cement Lawrence's place in the action genre after the actress has successfully become one of Hollywood's most sought after actresses.
The synopsis of the film reads: "When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika and her mother are facing a bleak and uncertain future".
Red Sparrow stars Jennifer Lawrence (as Dominika Egorova), Joel Edgerton (as Nathaniel Nash, the American agent), Matthias Schoenaerts (as Vanya Egorov), Charlotte Rampling (as one of the Sparrow School's instructors), Mary-Louise Parker (as Stephanie Boucher), and Jeremy Irons (as Korchnoi). Lawrence plays Dominikia Egorova, a young woman who is recruited into Russia's secretive Sparrow spy school and forced to undergo a brutal training regime, from which she emerges as a ruthless agent. Based on the novel by Jason Matthews, the movie stars Jennifer Lawrence and depicts the transformation of a Russian ballerina into a weapon highly trained in psychological manipulation. A secretive Russian intelligence agency exploits Dominika's dire situation, pressing her into service. Once a master of deception, however, she finds her allegiances torn between her cruel Soviet overlords and an American whom she's tasked with handling - and with whom she falls into a relationship.
I just hope that she's allowed to show more emotion than Charlize Theron did in Atomic Blonde.
