This holiday season, customers bought more than twice as many Amazon Fire TV Sticks than they did during last year's holiday season.

One eye-catching figure: More than 4 million people signed up for Prime free trials or began paid memberships in a one-week period, according to Amazon.

Amazon Echo's popularity on Christmas was corroborated by Apple App Store and Google Play, two virtual stores for the iOS and Android mobile operating systems.

According to Amazon's data, Alexa's East Coast users requested holiday music 2.5 times more than West Coast users, with "Jingle Bells" being the most-requested song. "Thank you to the millions of customers and hundreds of thousands of Amazon employees all around the world who made this holiday better than ever before".

While there are scores of purchases that can be made using Alexa, the top purchases made through "voice shopping" were the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, the company said.

However, the company has never announced how many Prime members it has; as of September 2017, Amazon Prime had about 90 million US members (up 38%), according to estimates by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Amazon Air carried enough packages to equal over a billion Echo Dots. The company's much-touted Alexa was used much more this holiday season for a variety of tasks. The most popular item viewed with AR view throughout this holiday season was a black chair with ottoman. The East Coast of the USA requested holiday music from Alexa 250% more than the West Coast did. Earlier today, the online retailing giant issued a press release noting that the 2017 holiday shopping season was its biggest yet. Both placed Amazon Alexa - the voice-based assistant software behind Amazon Echo - as the most downloaded app on Christmas Day.
