In a move that isn't very surprising but is nevertheless delightful, Netflix officially announced today that it has renewed its hottest show Stranger Things for a third season.

The streaming service announced the return of the beloved characters from Hawkins, Indiana in a Friday afternoon, December 1 tweet.

"We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out", Ross Duffer told New York Magazine at the time.

The creators of "Stranger Things", The Duffer Brothers, have been saying that they planned on making a Season 3 and 4 of the series, but now it's official.

It's no shock that Netflix will be returning to Hawkins, Indiana, the site of one of the online network's biggest show. No casting changes for season three have been announced yet.

It's unknown what the plot line will be for Stranger Things Season 3. The second season of "Stranger Things" has been available to stream via Netflix since October 27.

There have been no hints that any significant departures will take place, especially as season 3 is said to focus more on the characters and their development.

In Season 2, we met Lucas' (Caleb McLaughlin) little sister and we already knew that Mike (Finn Wolfhard) had one as well, but do they know each other? I would love for the show to turn into sort an anthology show with multiple seasons for each presented story. Straight up. STRANGER THINGS is pure fun. A+.

Given the one-year jump between the first and second seasons, Season 3 will most likely begin a year after the events of Snow Ball at the end of Stranger Things 2.
