The beauty from South Africa has earned a yearlong salary, a luxury apartment in New York City for the duration of her reign and more prizes.

As she said made her final walk at the Axis Theater in Las Vegas, on Sunday, November 26 (Monday, November 27 in Manila), Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere looked every inch a beauty queen, wearing a red ombre gown by Filipino designer Michael Cinco.

"You feel so empowered because you are on a stage with 91 other women that are strong, that are independent, that have worked really hard", she said.

The 22-year-old from the Western Cape is only the second South African to win the title, following Margaret Gardiner's win in 1978.

Bennett, emerged from a field of 92 contestants from across the globe.

Miss Philippines Rachel Peters was a crowd favorite, getting the loudest cheer from the audience, one that Harvey and co-host Ashley Graham noticed. "She is a woman that has nothing too much to ask for and that is exactly who I am".

The Miss Universe Pageant previously aired on NBC and Univision when the Miss Universe Organization was owned by future President Donald Trump. "After they finished calling Asia, 'Oh my goodness, what is happening right now?'" The part time student announced she had been undergoing extensive training and plans to make her nation proud.
