Veterans honored with parade; Vet Day ceremonies set for Saturday too

A Veterans Day Luncheon will be held at the Scituate Country Club beginning at 10:45 a.m. that will include speakers and a flag ceremony.

For those who can't attend, the Courier will be showing live video of the parade from the newspaper office on Main Street.

San Jose's Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, starting from the Highway 87 overpass at Santa Clara Street and go along Market Street to San Carlos Street. Instead, as put forth by Hardin County Veterans Services Officer C.D. Rickman, all local Vietnam War veterans have been collectively declared grand marshals.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will toll the Liberty Bell at 9:25 a.m. before the ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. The route is created to accommodate a ceremony at Savannah Veterans Park immediately following the end of the parade at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The parade was followed by a brief ceremony in front of Mooresville town hall, lunch and a concert on the town hall lawn.

The San Antonio Symphony, U.S. Air Force Band of the West and the 323 Army Band Fort Sam's Own are scheduled to perform.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. Div. Soldier. "It does make a difference seeing that type of support, especially from active-duty service members". The parade ends at Mill Creek Park Veterans Memorial off Broadway.
