The internet has a new debate raging over what is a correct cheeseburger emoji.
For Google users, the lettuce is up the top above the tomato, with the cheese sitting underneath the meat patty on the bottom.
That's why it's so refreshing to see the CEO of a company as colossal as Google focussing his attention on what really matters: how a cheeseburger should be correctly put together - and an emoji cheeseburger to boot.
"A cheeseburger emoji, otherwise known as a burger".
A Twitter user posted the two emojis side by side, pointing out the difference between them. So, it turns out to be a glaring mistake that Google's emoji shows the cheese slice below the patty.
However, Pichai said that as the matter will resolve, Google will re-arrange its cheeseburger emoji. "Bottom, tomato, cheese, meat, lettuce, top bun". However, he adds, this would add a step of melting the cheese in broiler because the residual heat from the burger would not melt it. Between the two buns, the company's graphic designer chose to add, from top to bottom, lettuce and tomato, then patty, then the cheese.
The further up the chain of command you get within a company, the more it seems like all anyone is bothered about is profits, profits, profits.
Google Chief was driven into this debate when a tweet from Thomas Baekdal, Founder of Baekdal Media, sought a Twitter discussion on how the placement of cheese in the "burger emoji" differed on Google and another IT giant Apple.
"They're both wrong. Google's cheese is wrong, Apple's lettuce is wrong". We hope Google fixes it soon.
