Police arrested a suspect in the center of Munich today, the BNR said.
A man with a knife attacked eight people in Munich on Saturday and then fled, police said.
The 33-year-old suspect began indiscriminately stabbing passers-by in the Haidhausen area, east of downtown Munich, targeting eight people in all, including a 12-year-old child, at different sites. They mainly had superficial stab wounds and in at least one case had been hit.
According to police, the suspect was captured travelling by bicycle a few kilometres south of where the attacks took place.
Mr Andrae told reporters there is no indication that an extremist, political or religious background factored into the attack.
