President Donald Trump said Friday that Steve Scalise "took a bullet for all of us". The doctor described how a bullet from an assault rifle entered Scalise's hip and traversed his pelvis, shattering blood vessels, bones and internal organs along the way.

According to Fox News, the handwritten list was found in a van belonging to James Hodgkinson by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the lawmakers named on the list are known to be conservative members associated with the Freedom Caucus.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise listens during an interview in NY on October 8, 2014.

Mr Scalise was among five people wounded in the shooting.

Even though Scalise is quite alive, now under treatment for injuries sustained at the shooting, Pelosi seems to begin to say "death", while talking to reporters at Capitol Hill on Thursday. "The Scalise family greatly appreciates the outpouring of thoughts and prayers".

Hodgkinson died of his wounds Wednesday.

Scalise, Tyson Foods lobbyist Matt Mika, congressional aide Zach Barth and US Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner were shot during an attack on the Republican congressional baseball team as it practiced Wednesday morning.

Scalise had been at "imminent risk of death" when he was first brought into the hospital on Wednesday, and he received many units of transfused blood, Sava said.

"Scalise continues to show signs of improvement". The U.S. Capitol Police and representatives for the three lawmakers did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Doctors immediately performed surgery, but additional operations will be required, the hospital said in the late-night statement.

Hodgkinson - an IL home inspector who had been living out of his van near the park - had a social media page filled with criticism of Republicans and the Trump administration. Bailey hobbled out to the pitcher's mound Thursday to a standing ovation to throw the opening pitch of the Congressional baseball game.
