It is alleged the wanted man then sprayed the two police cars with bullets using a semi-automatic machine gun, The Australian reports.
The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics had responded to the incident.
"The male person who is the subject of our inquiries in relation to the death of Senior Constable Brett Forte has exited the building in which he was in", said Mr Wright.
On Monday, Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said he wanted to resolve the siege "as peacefully as humanly possible".

POLICE are still hunting for the person suspected of killing a police officer in the Lockyer Valley this afternoon.
A police source says the shooter got out of his vehicle during the chase and shot the officer before driving down a dirt road at Seventeen Mile, just north-west of Gatton.
Mr Pennell said he was eventually evacuated about 5.30pm and was now staying at a hotel with his family as police continued to hunt for the shooter.
"It is so distressing not just to police but to the community that we've lost a police officer", Commissioner Stewart said.
The gunman has since holed himself up in a farmhouse, prompting police to declare an emergency situation near the Lockyer State Forrest shortly before 4pm.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk sent condolences to the slain officer's friends and family and said members of the public should be "immensely grateful" for the work of the police force.
"The police officer woke up this morning to do his job and he had people who loved him".
An exclusion zone in place for the area of Fords Rd, Forestry Rd West, Sandy Creek Rd, Gerard Lane, 17 Mile, Wallers Rd and Forest Rd.
"It is just exceptionally sad".
